Banana Split Martini Recipe

This banana split martini has all the flavors of your favorite ice cream sundae – vanilla, caramel, strawberry, and banana – except all in a beefed-up, boozy form.

I wanted to ease into things a bit since this is only my second Food Fanatic Cocktail post. I didn’t want to hit you right off the bat with a big ‘ol bourbon concoction… not yet, but believe me, those will be coming soon. And plenty of them!

All the flavors in this martini remind me of sitting at Friendly’s in front of a giant banana split sundae when I was younger. I used to down one of those with no problem, no problem at all. Now, when I take my own kids to Friendly’s, I downgrade myself to a Fribble or something a little more acceptable for a gown-up, and let the boys eat the enormous sundaes.

One of my favorite things to serve at the end of a dinner party is a dessert cocktail. You know when it’s time for dessert and coffee, but you’re still having a good time and you don’t really feel like making the switch yet? That’s when a dessert cocktail comes into play. You can continue to drink while having something sweet to end the meal.

Win-Win.

Your guests will never expect a martini for dessert (unless they’re friends of mine) and most of the time I’m too full from dinner to dive right into dessert right away.

Of course you can still serve an actual dessert with this martini, like maybe these banana cupcakes with cinnamon cream cheese frosting or sweet bites of banana split fudge, to keep the banana theme going. I don’t think anyone’s gonna turn down a cupcake.

Now you can enjoy all those banana split sundae flavors, right in your martini glass.

The kids can have their ice cream. I’ll take a banana split martini, please!
