The great thing about this cocktail is that you can serve it on the rocks, or blended, because who doesn’t love a blended margarita?!

Did you know that blended margaritas are a relatively new innovation? The first time they were ever served frozen was in 1971! They were actually served from a soft-serve ice cream machine when they first hit the scene.

Whether you’re blending or shaking this fun margarita, you can honor its traditional origins by serving it with salt or sugar on the rim of the glass. As this margarita leans much more to the sweet side, we think a sugared rim is perfect!

We recommend using a light colored tequila in this recipe, as some of the darker tequilas tend to have a richer flavor. This may make this cocktail just a bit too sweet for some people!

Did you know…

True tequila is only produced in Mexico, in the state of Jalisco, from a blue agave plant. For a liquor to be classed as tequila, it needs to have at least 51% blue agave in it. Blue agave is a tricky plant to grow and generally takes eight years to mature! It’s also good to know that liquors produced outside of the specific regions in Mexico that make tequila are actually referred to as ‘mezcal’.

If you’re a strawberry lover, why not amp up the strawberry flavor in this divine cocktail by adding a splash of strawberry puree, and even some sliced strawberries as a garnish!
