Brie, Pear & Walnut Pull Apart Bread Recipe

When it comes to entertaining, whether it’s a large party filled with your closest friends or a small family gathering, there are a few things that need to be in place to turn the event into a huge success. Start off by turning on some good tunes and pour a festive signature cocktail.

My hibiscus rose margaritas are always a big hit. After those two elements are taken care of, it all comes down to some good conversation and the one thing universally unites everyone. Food!

I always like to have a nice plate of crackers, jams, a mixture of cheese and fruit. These foods are easy to munch on while chatting and the flavor combinations are endless.

I love a good crusty loaf of bread so I always enjoy having a pull apart bread. It’s always a hit with guests and again, breads that pull apart and are filled with all sorts of goodies are easy to eat while mingling.

My all-time favorite is my Monte Cristo pull apart bread – it has layers of dough, ham, turkey and swiss cheese, complete with a dusting of powdered sugar and jam for dipping. Just like the sandwich, but built to feed a crowd.

I didn’t think I could top that appetizer recipe but this pear, Brie and walnut pull apart bread is right up there.

I made a golden, crusty loaf of plain no knead artisan bread, and then something magical happened. I cut that beautiful loaf of bread into deep 1-inch pieces, then into all those crannies I buried slices of Brie and red anjou pears.

A sprinkle of candied walnuts over the top then into the oven it went.

What emerges is a warm loaf of bread filled with warm melted Brie, tender sweet pears and nutty walnuts all ready to be easily pulled apart into bite-size deliciousness. This is the ultimate finger food with an air of sophistication.
