Green Tea Martini Recipe

I love a good martini. Straight up with traditional olives or flavorful marinated olives, and as my father-in-law says – just a splash of vermouth. It’s actually a pretty funny story he tells (all the time) about how he and a buddy of his went on a fishing trip years ago and his friend forgot the vermouth for their martinis.

The closest store was miles away but being the good friend that he is, he made the journey out to go and get the vermouth. My father-in-law kept telling him not to worry about it, that it was nuts to drive all that way for vermouth. But off he went.

An hour later when he came back and handed over the vermouth, my father-in-law poured the smallest amount in the cap (a half of a capful he says) and threw it in his drink.

An hour road trip for a half a capful of vermouth.

Those are good friends to have.

But sometimes you need to switch things up with your drinks, whether it’s a dessert martini, like this banana split martini, for a party or something to make when you have a cold like a hot toddy…

Or you could whip up this green tea martini. It only takes a few minutes to brew the green tea with a little honey, infused with fresh thyme.

The hardest part is trying to remember to do this ahead of time so that your tea is ice cold – but never fear – I’m the king of forgetful – so if you do forget, just shake the tea in your cocktail shaker full of ice and strain it out. Ice cold in seconds!

While I’m not going to claim 100% that if you have a head cold or just the winter blues that this green tea and thyme martini will totally cure you – you should definitely give it a try… it’s so good you’ll forget all about your cold!
