Orange Creamsicle Poptarts Recipe

Do you ever have a tv show that you can just watch over and over? I will make my confession: I watch Friends over and over.

I never get tired of it. There are days where I will pop a disk in and watch the whole thing. Yes, I do have ALL the seasons on DVD!

This is kind of how my kids approach breakfast. They eat the same thing over and over again.

Typically, it is cereal, but every once in a while, they will add in a store-bought poptart or a bagel. Sometimes I like to mix it up and make my own poptarts!

The last time I made you something like this, I made peanut butter and jelly poptarts. This time I decided to make Orange Creamsicle Poptarts!

They were a big hit with the kids!

Around summer time I tend to see lots of desserts that are creamsicle-flavored and it always reminds me of those creamsicle cream bars that I used to eat as a kid.

I was curious if I would be able to get that flavor inside the pop tart. After some thinking about it and playing around the recipe, I decided to use some fresh orange zest in the cream to really make the flavor pop after the pastries cooked.

The best part of it was topping it off with the white chocolate. That sealed the deal for me, and I definitely recommend you making them as well!

A few tips to get these just right:

  • Press the pastry edges together first with your fingers, then with your fork.
  • Secondly, you HAVE to brush the tops with the egg wash. It makes the pastries come out so much better. I tried making them without the egg wash and they were a failure.
  • Lastly, you can definitely use the whole box of puff pastry and make at least six pop tarts. You will have some cream filling left over, so you could absolutely make six!

If you are looking for more breakfast pastries try out these cinnamon croissants or these apple pie cinnamon rolls.
