Taco Bell and Beyond Meat Hype New Collaboration Years in the Making

For a few years now, Taco Bell and Beyond Meat have been collaborating on new menu items with a mission of giving Taco Bell customers more options.

In a world full of increasing dietary restrictions and choices, Taco Bell recognizes the importance of making as many customers as possible feel welcome.

To that end, starting in mid-October Taco Bell restaurants in the greater Dayton, Ohio area will be offering the new line up featuring Beyond Carne Asada Steak.

The news of Taco Bell’s new collaboration with Beyond was greeted with great excitedment from both vegetarians and vegans alike celebrating the news.

The goal? To create a plant-based product that doesn’t sacrifice any of the flavor or texture of Taco Bell’s popular marinated carne asada steak menu items.

Dariush Ajami, Beyond Meat’s Chief Innovation Officer, said in a statement, “We know that consumers are looking for diverse protein options that are better for the planet without compromising on taste, so we’re incredibly excited to launch our brand-new, innovative Beyond Carne Asada Steak.”

The new plant-based meat offering will be featured in Taco Bell’s steak quesadilla but will also be available in any menu item where regular steak is used, at no extra charge.

Taco Bell will be one of very few among quick-serve restaurants to not charge a premium for making the switch.

That means plant-based eaters, vegetarians and vegans can now enjoy everything from soft tacos to crunchwraps with Beyond steak.

Marissa Thiry, Taco Bell’s Senior Nutrition Specialist, said at a preview event, “We think that price parity is super important to help increase accessibility to all our fans who are looking to try something plant based. That is one of the things I love about this [product] – that we’re able to offer it at the same price point as steak and not for an upcharge.”

If I’m telling the truth, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t at least a little bit curious! And I know some of our Food Fanatic family will be first in line for a taste test.

For now, this carnivore will stick to regular animal based beef…unless someone twists my arm and reports back how delicious it is, then I’m sold.
